Full Job Description

Department: Production

Job Title: Welder

Reporting Line: Stage 1 to Stage 5 Supervisors

Working Hours:

  • Day Shift:
    Your regular working hours will be 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM from Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day. Fridays come with an early finish at 3:30 PM, giving you a jump start to your weekend.

  • Night Shift:
    Alternatively, the night schedule runs Monday to Thursday, from 7:45 PM to 6:00 AM, also with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Key Objectives of the Role

As a Welder, you will play a critical role in the production team by assembling components to a high standard using MIG welding techniques. Your primary objective is to ensure that all welding tasks meet stringent quality standards, conform to technical specifications and contribute to the smooth flow of the production process.

You will be expected to:

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications: A foundational skill for this role, your ability to decode and follow complex schematics is vital to delivering accurate and consistent work.

  • Execute precision welding: MIG welding will be your primary task and you must consistently deliver neat, strong welds.

  • Conduct measurements and material marking: Accuracy is everything. You’ll need to measure, mark and prepare materials with attention to detail.

  • Select and prepare materials: Using burning torches, disc cutters or machines, you will be expected to cut and shape materials like mild steel ranging from 3mm to 20mm thick.

  • Work independently and within a team: Flexibility and collaboration are both key here. Whether you’re working on a solo job or contributing to a group target, you must be ready to adapt and perform.

  • Maintain your tools and workspace: You are responsible for your own PPE and welding equipment, as well as for keeping your work area tidy and safe.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Following detailed technical drawings and working from precise specification sheets

  • Performing MIG welding at a consistently high quality

  • Ensuring the use and maintenance of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Collaborating with team members and taking direction from senior staff to hit production targets

  • Strictly adhering to health and safety protocols at all times

  • Participating in housekeeping routines to maintain a clean and efficient production environment

  • Managing materials efficiently to reduce waste and maintain productivity

  • Being flexible and ready to perform other tasks as required – training will be provided for any additional duties assigned
